This Years Auckland Big Day Out To Be The Last

It seems that this is to be the last Big Day Out held in Auckland.  

A message on the Big Day Out NZ Facebook page reads "This year will be New Zealand's last Big Day Out. Come party with us this Friday. It's been an amazing 18 years here in Auckland."  

Ticket sales have been slow this year, not helped by the fact that headliner Kanye West was taken off the New Zealand leg of the festival in an attempt to downsize.  

The Big Day Out has run every year in Auckland since 1994, with the exception of 1998 when the Festival took a year off.  It was thought at the time the 1997 event would be the final Big Day Out, before it returned it 1999.  Ironically Soundgarden, who is headlining this year, was also one of the headliners in 1997, as well as performing at Auckland's first Big Day Out in 1994.
