Ana Sia
The EarthTonz festival is set to take place at the Gibbston Valley Station in Queenstown this New Year's Eve! The event will see up to 10,000 fans treated to over 30 hours of music and will feature some of the hottest names around.
Performing at the festival will be San Francisco artist Ana Sia, who has been known for uniting the best elements of dirty dubstep, grimy glitch, and her personalized blend of "global slut psy-hop." We were treated to a quick question and answer session with Ana and discovered some more about the "Asian Dubstep Queen".
Where did you grow up and where do you live now?
i was born and raised in suburban Minnesota but now call San Francisco, California my home via the Big Island of Hawaii & New York City.
How did you first get into music and when did you first start performing?
Music has always been a significant commodity throughout my life. i began with classical instruments just barely out of the womb but the electronic aspects weren't present until about six years ago.
Who were your early influences?
Prince, Chopin, and anything that would bleed through the walls of my older siblings bedroom in the 80's.
How would you describe your sound?
Omni-tempo music designed to surprise.
Will this be your first visit to New Zealand?
Yes and i'm so happy to be granted the opportunity to visit!
Time for any site seeing while you are here?
Made sure of it! i'm going on one of "the great walks" with my sister and nephew that decided to join me for some adventuring.
