Tom Morello Labels Jane's Addiction More Influential Than Nirvana

Small

Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello has claimed that Jane's Addiction were the band that led the change in sound back in the early 90's, not Nirvana.

Morello made the speech as he was inducting Jane's Addiction into the Guitar Center RockWalk in Hollywood.  The guitarist stated "Nirvana often gets credit for being the first 'alternative' band to break through, the band that changed music. That's just not true. It was Jane's Addiction; inspiring, intelligent, furiously rocking and artistically deep."

Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell reacted by saying "That speech made me sound so damn good, I don't need to look in the mirror ever again. Just play that over and over every morning."
