Slash Trying To Settle Feud With Axl Rose
Slash is hopeful he can put aside his differences with Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose and put their feud "to rest".
Guns N' Roses are to be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in March, with speculation rife that members from the original line-up may reunite for the event.
Slash explained to Esquire "The split between Axl and I was a quiet one. But because there was so much attention on the break-up - and are we going to get back together - it got built up into this monster that led to a kind of animosity that wasn't the focus for me. Neither one of us wants to be down each other's throats for no reason. At this point, I'm trying to put it to rest."
He added "When I see footage of Guns N' Roses, I see that fucking hunger and attitude. You could not fuck with those five guys. It was just raw. It was this lean, hungry thing on its way up. It was as sincere as any rock 'n' roll that I've ever heard, and I'm proud of that."
Slash left Guns N' Roses in 1996, following three years of inactivity for the group. In his 2007 autobiography, Slash explained there were three contributing factors that led to him leaving the band. The disrespect shown by Rose to their audiences and crew by causing the band to almost always take the stage late during the Use Your Illusion Tour; the legal manipulation that Rose forced on his band mates by demanding ownership of the band name and downgrading them contractually to hired hands; and the departures of Steven Adler and Izzy Stradlin.
