Rage Against The Machine Play X-Factor Victory Concert, Cover The Clash
Rage Against the Machine have just completed their X-Factor victory concert in London at Finsbury Park.
The band promised they would perform a free show in the UK if their single 'Killing in the Name' made the UK Christmas number 1, at the expense of X-Factor winner Joe McElderry and his cover of the Miley Cyrus song 'The Climb'.
The show started with a cartoon Simon Cowell, who appeared on the venues giant screens, and stated "It gives me great displeasure to introduce the greatest rock band in the world, Rage Against The Machine."
During the show, lead singer Zack De La Rocha introduced Jon and Tracy Morter, the two who were behind the Facebook campaign to get Rage Against the Machine to number 1. De La Rocha said "I want to introduce you to two people who had an idea, an idea that spread through the grass roots."
He added "Not only are they great political strategists, they're humanitarians, and they inspired Rage Against The Machine to donate 100% of the profit from your downloads to Shelter (a UK homeless charity)."
The band then played a cover of White Riot by legendary British band The Clash.
When Rage Against the Machine left the stage, Joe McElderry's version of The Climb was pumped over the PA system, before the band returned for their encore, playing 'Killing in the Name'.
