Mary Yandall From 'The Yandall Sisters' Dies

Small

Mary Yandall from the 70's group The Yandall Sisters has died at the age of 62 following a short illness.

The singing group, which also featured Pauline and Adele Yandall, made a major contribution to New Zealand music.

In 1974 their song 'Sweet Inspiration' stayed in the New Zealand Top 20 singles charts for 8 weeks and in 1977 they were named the New Zealand Entertainer of The Year.  They also provided hundreds of backing vocals both in New Zealand and Australia for artists including Prince Tui Teka, Howard Morrison and John Rowles.

Mary Yandall's funeral will take place tomorrow at the Pacific Islanders' Presbyterian Church at Newton from 10 am and is to be buried at Waikumete cemetery.
