Kanye West & Jay-Z Being Sued Over Sample

Small

Kanye West and Jay-Z are being sued over sample that they used for their song 'The Joy' which features on their album 'Watch The Throne'

The pair used a sample of Syl Johnson's song 'Different Strokes' which his publisher is claiming they didn't acquire the rights for.  Johnson has filed a lawsuit in Illinois concerning the sample.

It's thought that initially Johnson agreed for Kanye West to sample 'Different Strokes' as a bonus track for his album 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy', but money was never exchanged and Johnson was unaware it had been used.
