Ashlee Simpson Files For Divorce From Pete Wentz

Ashlee Simpson is filing for divorce from Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz.  

Simpson filed papers at the Los Angeles County Superior Court on Tuesday, citing "irreconcilable differences" for the split.  The singer has applied for joint legal custody and primary physical custody of their two-year-old son Bronx.

A joint statement released by the pair read "After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to file for divorce. We remain friends and deeply committed and loving parents to our son Bronx, whose happiness and well-being remains our number one priority. We ask that everyone honour our privacy as we navigate this next phase of our lives."

Simpson and Wentz married in 2008.
